Hurricane Preparedness - We've got your back

Posted on

As we all brace for Hurricane Michael, we at NTS would like to take a moment to ensure your data networks are safe.

It is likely that the majority of this region will suffer from power outages which could last several hours to several days or more.

If your business does not have generator backup then it would be recommended to shut down your server environments to prevent the environment from going down hard, risking potential data corruption. Depending on the timing of the storm’s landfall and the location(s) of your business, you should consider if there is time to allow backups to run for that day or if you should shut down immediately following close of business.

We also recommend you shut down all workstations and laptops and unplug the power cables from any devices not protected by battery backup or surge protection. Please consult your appropriate disaster preparedness team members and discuss your plan of action. Make sure you have emergency contact information for your team as well as a well thought process for business continuity.

If you need any help please don’t hesitate to contact us here at NTS. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.
